Thomas the Tank Engine is a common household name within families that have had, or have, small children. Thomas has enjoyed renowned success since first created by Rev. W. Awdry for his son Christopher. Back then, Thomas the Tank Engine was a simple wooden tank based upon prototype designs created in 1913 by a then-famous locomotive engineer. A series of books was written for Christopher to accompany the toy and Thomas himself appeared in the 2nd book of four in the first series. Since then, Thomas has skyrocketed to fame and there is nary a little boy or girl who doesn’t recognize him and his friends!
Thomas the Tank Engine has always had a welcome place at Turtle Pond Toys, rolling the rails with his pals on our well-equipped display tables filled with Thomas, his friends, and plenty of accessories. In fact, it’s well-known within the stores that most parents have a love/hate relationship with our tables-they’re great for getting the kids focused on Thomas the Tank Engine toys while you shop but it can be hard to get them away when it’s time to go!
