Meccano

Meccano has been flourishing since the tail-end of the 19th century. More than 100 years of successful operations illustrates just how fun, educational, and timeless Meccano building sets are.  Since their beginnings as a simplified nuts and bolts system, Meccano holds their own along with other building sets like Lego and Playmobil but with a different, mechanical twist.  Meccano sets are for ages 4-15 years old.  Meccano offers model construction kits consisting of reusable metal plates, strips, axles, wheels, and gears as well as nuts and bolts to tie all the pieces together.  Meccano offers everything from kits one-model specific kits to 30+ model kits.

There are wonderful starter available for young ones as little as 2 years old. Meccano presents mechanically inclined 2-15 year olds (and even adults) many great ways to foster their skills, and for little ones kits come without the worry of very small parts posing any problems.

Easy 123, Mechanical 2, Meccano Motorized, Metal Robots Collection, Meccano Tuning and exciting Meccano Remote Control building sets are all available.  Sets for older children come in a variety of styles and sizes. There are small sets like Maxi Kits available offering children 8+ a chance to build one of many styles including an excavator, forklift, motorcycle and buggy. The Spykee Micro and Spykee Micro Cell are smaller versions of Meccanno’s hit spybot, Spykee. They are easy to build, with just twenty pieces, and stand about six inches high.  Spykee moves where commanded, has sound and light effects (from the infra-red remote) and manages on most surfaces well.
