Great Games!

These days it seems more games than not are electronic. And for those of us that haven’t grown up in more technologically advanced times, electronic games can seem intimidating and even down-right annoying. (But everything has its place and there are actually some benefits to playing video games in moderation.) Yet, a step back to classic games has numerous benefits too, and many classic games, newer board games and other non-electronic games have kept their place as mainstay family entertainment and as essential learning tools for children.

**Scroll down to see some of our new games and old favourites, and keep an eye out for game recommendations for all ages. We do our best to source out the finest games available. Be sure to visit Turtle Pond Toys to explore dozens of game options and get advice and suggestions specifically for your child.

Most serious game board fans have heard of Richard Garfield, designer of the famous collectible card game Magic : The Gathering.

With KING OF TOKYO, Richard Garfield offers us a crazy game for 2 to 6 players in which you will be able to play mutant monsters, gigantic robots and other monstrous creatures, all of whom are happily whacking each other in a joyous atmosphere in order to become the one and only King of Tokyo.

In order to win the game, one must either destroy Tokyo by accumulating 20 destruction points, or be the only surviving monster once the fighting has ended.

It's… the anagram game that drives you bananas! This crossword-type game similar to Scrabble but without the board, making it extra convenient when on the go. Rearrange your letters in each round to create a crossword using all the letters. When one player has completed their crossword, all the players then draw more letters and race to complete it once more. For 2-8 players.

Patchwork by Continuum Games is a strategic and fun card game in which players score points by stealing ro creating sets of 4 or more cards of the same color. Draw letter cards, rearrange them, and make words. Easy, right? But in patchword, the cards in your hand are not necessarily your own! In this game of word mastery and never-ending surprises, each card has a letter on both sides and anyone can take, and use, any card they can see.
Educational and fun, Patchwork builds logic, memory, and patterning skills.

This head to head game is for quick-thinking word-builders! Two teams, or two players, draw cards, setting them face up next to each other. Word parts, like prefixes, suffixes, consonants, and single vowels, are featured on each card. Build a word first byt adding one or more letters to the sets of existing letters and you’ll win the round!

Pathwords is a one-player logic puzzle from Thinkfun that word nerds and puzzle lovers won’t be able to put down. Pick up and place a Challenge Card on the Game Grid provided and choose the puzzle pieces indicated. Put each piece on the board so it covers one word exactly, spelled with forwards or backwards, but in order, so all letters are covered up. From beginner to expert, the higher you go, the challenges are commendably difficult. Though a one-player game, word lovers report this is a great group game, especially the most difficult challenges.

Spell It!

Spell It is the perfect party game, fast-paced and fun! Five dice are covered in the alphabet. Just roll them, see what luck brings, and create a word from a minimum three of five letters rolled. Be the first to say and spell a word related to the theme at hand and win a game chip.
